Ulrich GREGOR was born in Hamburg, Germany. Since 1955 he has worked as a film critic for newspapers, magazines, radio and TV. From 1966 to 1972 and again since 2006, he has served as a lecturer for film history at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie. He is a co-founder of the Arsenal cinema in Berlin in 1970 and from 1971 to 2001 was the director of the International Forum of New Cinema of the Berlin Film Festival. Other duties included the curating of retrospectives and festival catalogues as well as the publication of the monograph series “Kinemathek” (jointly with Erika Gregor). |

YI Sicheng was born in Yunnan, China in 1976. He graduated with a Bachelor in Chinese Language and Literature and a Master’s in Visual Anthropology from Yunnan University. He completed his PhD in Chinese Studies at Kiel University, Germany. Since 2003 he has served as a coordinator for the Yunnan Multi Culture Visual Festival (Yunfest). Currently he is the Program Director of Yunfest2009. He has made two documentaries Qing and The Newspaperman; the latter was awarded the Honorable Mention at the 5th Goettingen International Ethnographic Film Festival in 2000. |

Tammy CHEUNG was born in Shanghai in 1958 and moved to Hong Kong when she was three. She studied Sociology at a local college and Film Studies at Montreal’s Concordia University. Her documentary works include Invisible Women (99), Secondary School (02), Rice Distribution (02), Moving (03), War (03), July (04) , Speaking Up (05), Village Middle School (06), Speaking Up 2 (07) and Election (08). Most of her films adopt the Direct Cinema approach. |
