New global sponsors share new vision for the Hong Kong International Film Festival
The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) announced today its complete list of official sponsors of the 33rd Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), including new leading global brands Citibank Credit Card, W Hong Kong, Lexus and Grey Goose vodka.
As a distinguished group of corporations, the sponsors share in the new vision to enrich the festival experience and further enable the non-profit HKIFFS to develop and promote the festival’s annual presentation of more than 300 films. The 33rd HKIFF will be held from March 22 – April 13, 2009.
“Our sponsors this year reflect the new brand, vision and ambition of HKIFF. Their participation has allowed us to introduce several new initiatives that best serve our festivalgoers with an unforgettable experience and reach out to new audiences. As a life-style event, festival sponsorship dollars allow festival-goers to explore new ways to interact with film and invigorate old ways to appreciate film like the introduction of 3D and live-piano accompaniment to a revived silent film section called Archival Treasures.” said Soo-wei SHAW, Executive Director of the HKIFFS.
The festival this year will also feature the legendary Ingmar Bergman multi-media installation “Ingmar Bergman: The Man Who asked Hard Questions Exhibition” shown for the first time in Asia as part of the HKIFF and also, a new highlight to Hong Kong in 13 years, is the complete retrospective on the Italian film legend, Michelangelo Antonioni.
“The festival would not exist without the generous support from corporations, foundations and individuals which allow us to present film events and publications of the highest caliber. In light of the global economic climate, we are especially fortunate to have these dedicated and forward-looking companies that will bring hope, inspiration and fun to the community through the festival” added Ms SHAW.
As one of the key initiatives of the non-profit HKIFFS, the festival operates with the support of corporate sponsors, private foundations, film associations, government agencies, and individual donors. Festival sponsorship dollars make possible many of the services provided to festivalgoers, and also lower the operating cost for the event including marketing, publicity, hospitality, and communications.
